President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, following a two-day official visit to Qatar.

Tinubu arrived on Monday evening and was greeted by Vice President Kashim Shettima and other top government officials at Abuja’s Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.

Other government officials who greeted the president included Femi Gbajabiamila, Tinubu’s chief of staff (CoS); George Akume, secretary to the government of the federation (SGF); Nyesom Wike, minister of the federal capital territory (FCT); Abdullahi Ganduje, chairman of the All-Progressives Congress (APC); and Yusuf Bichi, director-general of the Department of State Services.

The federal government stated that Tinubu travelled to Qatar to advance cross-sectoral opportunities for mutually beneficial growth and development.

The announcement came after a leaked memo revealed that the Arab nation declined a proposed investment forum held on the sidelines of the president’s visit.

However, in a new memo dated February 23 from the Qatar embassy to Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Qatar agreed to host the business and investment forum proposed by Nigeria during Tinubu’s visit.

During his visit, Tinubu informed investors that Nigeria’s economy and systems are being reformed and upgraded.

He also requested that investors report public officials who demanded bribes from them.

Tinubu signed agreements with Qatar’s Emir, Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, to improve cooperation in sectors such as education, enterprise development, investment promotion, youth empowerment, mining, tourism, and sports.
