President Bola Tinubu has returned to Nigeria from a two-week “private visit” in France.

The president arrived in Abuja, the nation’s capital, on Tuesday night.

Some of his cabinet members who received him include Femi Gbajabiamila, chief of staff (CoS); George Akume, secretary general of the federation (SGF); Nuhu Ribadu, national security adviser (NSA); and Nyesom Wike, minister of the federal capital territory (FCT).

The presidential spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale, announced Tinubu’s visit to France on January 24 without providing a reason.

Ngelale stated that the president would return to the country in the first week of February.

Tinubu travelled to Paris shortly after winning the presidential election last year.

Tunde Rahman, Tinubu’s media aide at the time, stated that the trip was to allow Tinubu to “rest and prepare for lesser hajj in Saudi Arabia and Ramadan fasting”.

According to reports, the president was getting a medical checkup at the American Hospital of Paris in Neuilly-sur-Seine.

Months later, after attending the global financial summit in France, the presidency announced Tinubu’s trip to London for a “short private visit”.
