The Federal Government of Nigeria has debunked rumors suggesting discussions between Nigeria and foreign countries regarding establishing foreign military bases in the country.
In a statement issued by Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, the government urged the public to disregard these false alarms, emphasizing that there have been no such discussions.
“The Federal Government is not in any such discussion with any foreign country. We have neither received nor are we considering any proposals from any country on the establishment of any foreign military bases in Nigeria,” the statement read.
The government assured that it already enjoys foreign cooperation in tackling ongoing security challenges and remains committed to deepening these partnerships. The objective is to achieve the national security objectives outlined in the Renewed Hope Agenda.
