President Bola Tinubu has congratulated former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on his 68th birthday.
Tinubu’s special adviser on communications and strategy, Bayo Onanuga, issued a statement on Saturday praising Osinbajo’s services to governance and their longstanding connection.
The president praised Osinbajo’s efforts in executing critical infrastructure projects while serving as vice president to previous President Muhammadu Buhari.
Tinubu recalled Osinbajo’s role as acting president during Buhari’s medical leave, characterising him as a capable leader who shown his ability in office.
“Professor Yemi Osinbajo will always remain my friend and associate. He served our country meritoriously as Vice President to that patriotic leader, President Muhammadu Buhari,” Tinubu was quoted as saying.
“He made all of us in the All Progressives Congress proud by working collaboratively and harmoniously with the president without rancour.”
The president also praised Osinbajo’s efforts to legal and political changes while serving as attorney-general in Lagos state when Tinubu was governor.
Although they both ran for the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential ticket in 2023, Tinubu claimed Osinbajo exercised his “democratic right and freedom” during the competition.
He wished the former vice president good health and continuing success in the years to come.
