Senate confirms Tinubu’s seven ministerial nominees

The new ministers are Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda, Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi, Bianca Odinaka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, Idi Mukhtar Maiha, Dr Jumoke Oduwole and Suwaiba Said Ahmed Ahmad.

The Nigerian Senate has confirmed all seven nominees presented by President Bola Tinubu following his recent cabinet reshuffle.

The confirmation came after Tinubu’s request was submitted to the Senate by the Senate Leader, Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, on Wednesday.

Bamidele reminded the Senate that the nominees were originally set for screening on Tuesday, though the session was postponed.

He thereafter sought the leave of the Chamber for nominees to be screened.

“That the Senate do consider the request of Mr. President , Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, for the confirmation of the following nominees for appointment as ministers of Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, in accordance with Section 147 (2) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999, as amended,” he prayed.

Immediately the senators dissolved into the Committee of the Whole with the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio presiding.

After questions and answers were taken from the minister-designates, all of them were confirmed ministers in an exercise that lasted for five hours.

The new ministers are Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda, Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi, Bianca Odinaka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, Idi Mukhtar Maiha, Dr Jumoke Oduwole and Suwaiba Said Ahmed Ahmad.

In his remarks, the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio prayed that God will give the ministers the enablement to discharge their duties to the benefit of Nigerians.
