Three individuals from Eku, Delta State, have been apprehended in connection with the homicide of a barber in Abraka, Delta State, stemming from a N10,000 debt.
According to reports, the suspects had engaged the services of the barber to create dreadlocks for them in Abraka for a total cost of N15,000.
However, due to the barber’s busy schedule, they asked for a refund, and the barber returned N5,000, promising to pay the balance the next day.
The situation escalated when the three boys later went to the barber’s shop for their hair service. A fight ensued, during which one of the suspects used an iron mopping stick to hit the barber. The injured barber was rushed to the hospital but unfortunately died while receiving treatment.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident via his social media handle.
In a post on Monday via his X handle, Edafe wrote, “Three young boys in Eku Delta State contracted a barber in Abraka for N15,000. The barber said he was too busy, so the boys asked for a refund.
“The barber refunded N5,000 promising to pay the balance the next day. The three boys later went to his shop, to make their dreads, a fight ensued between them and the barber, during which one of them used an iron mopping stick to hit the barber.
“He was rushed to the hospital where he died while receiving treatment. The suspects are presently at State CID Asaba.
“Something that could have been avoided.”
