Gunmen have killed a pastor at an RCCG parish in Abule-Ori, Obafemi Owode LGA, Ogun State.
The commander of Ogun state So-Safe Corps, Soji Ganzallo, confirmed the incident during a vigil at 12am on Saturday.
The gunmen kidnapped seven church members, according to Ganzallo’s statement on Sunday.
”The Owode-Egba zonal command of the corps, under Jimoh Omoniyi, received a distress call that some members of the RCCG, Desires of Nations Parish, under Ogun province 22, Abule-Ori in Obafemi Owode local government area were attacked during a vigil,” the statement reads.
“That seven members of the church were kidnapped and the pastor killed.
“Officers of the corps were charged to go after the suspects to rescue the victims unhurt and the officers swung into action immediately.”
Ganzallo reported the successful and unharmed rescue of the seven abducted members.
He further stated that one of the kidnappers was killed during the operation.
The shootout resulted in injuries to several suspects, prompting a joint effort by the police and So-Safe Corps to pursue and apprehend the fleeing kidnappers.
The commander also confirmed that the body of the deceased kidnapper has been transported to a nearby morgue.
