Speaker Kunle Oluomo has been impeached from his position in the Ogun State House of Assembly. The decision was reached during a plenary session on Tuesday, with 18 out of the 36 members voting in favor of his impeachment.
The grounds for Oluomo’s removal were cited as alleged embezzlement of funds, highhandedness, and other related offenses. The Assembly members, through a democratic process, expressed their dissatisfaction with Oluomo’s leadership, leading to the historic impeachment.
Following the impeachment, the Assembly swiftly elected a new Speaker, choosing Oludaisi Elemide to fill the vacant position. The change in leadership is expected to bring a fresh perspective and renewed commitment to public service.
