A section of the Supreme Court has been destroyed by fire.

The fire started in the chamber of Supreme Court Justice Ibrahim Saulawa.

According to a source who spoke to TheCable, Saulawa’s chamber has been completely destroyed.

At the time of reporting, black smoke was still billowing from the structure.

“Smoke was coming out of the office of Justice Saulawa. We did our best to try to put out the fire with an extinguisher but we could not control it,” the source said.

“We later called the firefighters, they came and we all put hands together. It has been brought under control now.”

The source added that “everything” in Saulawa’s office was consumed.

“Only his chamber was affected. Before it got to the chambers of other justices, we controlled it,” he added.

The supreme court building is located on the Three Arms Zone in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city.
