In a bid to enhance healthcare services in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Dr. Dolapo Fasawe, the Mandate Secretary of Health Services and Environment Secretariat, conducted an on-the-spot assessment of the 14 general/district hospitals under the FCTA.

Accompanied by Dr. Olugbenga Bello, the Acting Director-General of Hospital Management Board, and other top officials of the secretariat, the Mandate Secretary revealed that the initiative aims to elevate the current state of healthcare facilities, identify areas for improvement, and ensure the delivery of quality healthcare to the public in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda.

During the tour, the Mandate Secretary engaged with healthcare professionals, inspected facilities, reviewed operational procedures, and identified challenges for immediate interventions. According to a statement by Bola Ajao, the Special Media Assistant in the Office of the Mandate Secretary, the visit reflects the government’s commitment to fostering a healthcare system that meets the evolving needs of the community.

“This on-the-spot assessment visit was at the directive of the FCT Minister, Barrister Nysom Wike, and is crucial in our ongoing efforts to strengthen public healthcare in the FCTA,” explained the Mandate Secretary.

“We are focused on identifying challenges, implementing necessary reforms, and ensuring that citizens receive the best possible care available at all times. There is a need for quick interventions in areas such as facility infrastructure, human capacity, medical equipment, staffing, and standardization of operations.”

The Mandate Secretary expressed appreciation for the dedication of healthcare workers and assured continued support for their tireless efforts. She reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fostering a robust healthcare system that prioritizes the well-being of citizens and healthy families.

She added that future initiatives and reforms will be guided by the insights gained from the visit, while appealing to the public to refrain from attacking healthcare workers. She assured them of the administration’s commitment to bequeathing a responsive and efficient healthcare system.
