General Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), has renovated Gwiwa Community Hospital in the Gwiwa Low-Cost Community where he was born and raised.
Brig.-Gen. Tukur Gusau, Director of Defence Information, said on Wednesday that the CDS launched the project when he visited his childhood neighbourhood to celebrate his birthday on December 25.
According to Gusau, the CDS inaugurated a hospital project within the community as a meaningful gesture, emphasising his commitment to improving the residents’ well-being.
He added that the defence chief also visited Mallam Yahaya Abdulkareem Model Primary School, where he attended primary school from 1974 to 1980.
Gusau said:
“Embracing a people-centric approach, General Musa undertook the renovation of the Gwiwa Community Hospital, fostering connections with old neighbours and childhood friends.
“The community expressed their gratitude to the CDS by displaying placards to convey their appreciation for the newly inaugurated hospital.
“It is worth noting that on the preceding day, as part of his Christmas and birthday celebrations, the CDS generously distributed hampers and cash to ailing personnel during his visit to the Defence Headquarters Hospital immediately after the church service.
“Gen. Musa, fostering morale and camaraderie, shared a Christmas lunch with the troops of Operation Hadarin Daji.
“He urged them to remain steadfast in the fight against terrorism, assured the troops of his unwavering support and conveyed the President’s goodwill message, emphasising a collective resolve to overcome challenges.”
