Bandits attacked the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH) in Osara, Okene, Kogi State, and abducted an unspecified number of students.
ChannelsTV reports that according to security sources, the incident occurred on Thursday night while students were in classrooms preparing for the first-semester examination scheduled for Monday, May 13. The gunmen reportedly entered the classrooms and began shooting sporadically before whisking away several students.
“We are on top of the situation,” stated Kogi State Security Adviser, Jerry Omadara, who was seen at the campus alongside the Commandant of Army Records, Lokoja. Omadara assured that the state government is closely monitoring the situation and will provide further information shortly.
Channels Television visited the campus and observed security officials assessing the situation.
“We are still assessing the situation, we will speak about it shortly,” Omadara added.
The exact number of students abducted has yet to be ascertained.
