In a recent message shared via his Instagram account, the outspoken media personality, Ifedayo Olarinde, known as Daddy Freeze, has urged Nigerian women to view their husbands not merely as partners but as their “heads.”
Daddy Freeze emphasized that various cultural and religious traditions, including African, Middle Eastern, Christian, and Islamic, uphold the husband’s role as the head of the family. He contrasted this with the Western notion where spouses are seen as equal partners.
Highlighting the cultural diversity within Nigeria, Daddy Freeze pointed out that traditions across tribes such as Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa, Fulani, and Efik, as well as religious beliefs, all reinforce the husband’s position as the head of the household.
However, he cautioned women to be discerning in choosing whom they submit their headship to, emphasizing the importance of wise decision-making in matters of family dynamics and relationships.
