Tinubu is also expected to attend the 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), which is scheduled for September 4-6.

President Xi Jinping has welcomed President Bola Tinubu in China’s Great Hall.

The Great Hall is a governmental structure where the Chinese government conducts legislative and ceremonial functions.

Online videos and images show the two leaders coming and standing on a pedestal inside the structure.

Tinubu left Abuja on Thursday for an official visit to Beijing.

In a statement, presidential spokesperson Ajuri Ngelale indicated that Tinubu would meet with Jinping and Chinese business executives on the sidelines of the China-Africa cooperation forum.

Tinubu is also expected to attend the 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), which is scheduled for September 4-6.

The forum is an official platform for collaboration between China and African countries, with the goal of improving economic and political ties.

The forum is convened every three years, with the most recent meeting taking place virtually in 2021 owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.
