Elon Musk, the tech billionaire, has announced that audio and video calls will be added to X (formerly known as Twitter) soon.
He made the announcement in a post shared on the platform on Thursday.
Musk specified that the feature will be compatible with Android, iOS, PC, and Mac
He stated that once available, the feature would enable audio and video calls to be made without a phone number.
“Video and audio calls are coming to X; it works on iOS, Android, Mac, and PC; no phone number needed; X is the effective global address book. That set of factors is unique,” Musk, who is the owner and chief executive officer of X, said.
Musk, however, did not specify when the new feature would be available.
Musk announced two weeks ago that X users would no longer be able to block other accounts because the feature “made no sense.”
Twitter has introduced several new features and changes since Musk took over the microblogging platform.
In 2022, the company introduced a subscription plan for the verified blue tick mark.
Musk introduced a feature in April 2023 that allows media publishers to charge users per article.
This comes after Twitter announced that users will be able to monetize their content This included long-form text and hours-long videos.
Later in May, the Twitter CEO announced that the platform would reduce content subscriptions by 10% after the first year.
Earlier this month, the platform commenced its monthly advert revenue payment scheme for verified content creators.
