Wole Soyinka should no longer be taken seriously – Charly Boy

He said Wole Soyinka will be turning 90 soon and might be suffering from brain deterioration due to ageing.

Maverick singer Charly Boy has advised Nigerians to view Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka’s recent statements and actions with skepticism. According to Charly Boy, Soyinka, who is about to turn 90, may be experiencing brain deterioration due to ageing.

Charly Boy suggested that this decline might explain Soyinka’s recent rhetoric and behavior.

The 73-year-old singer expressed concern that Soyinka’s family and close friends are unable to protect him from being exploited by opportunistic politicians who are taking advantage of his “medical situation.”

On his Instagram page, Charly Boy wrote: “Prof. Wole Soyinka is aged over 80yrs, even tending towards 90yrs. For his age, some level of brain deterioration is not unexpected. His rhetorics and actions in recent times is suggestive of deteriorating brain desease, and as such he shouldn’t be taken too seriously.

“What we shld be worried about as well-meaning Nigerians, is how his family and close friends can’t ward off agents of desperate politicians who are bent on exploiting his medical situation to their advantage, no matter how low it sinks the once respected Nobel laureate.”
