A two-storey building has collapsed in the Orile-Iganmu area of Surulere, Lagos.
The incident occurred at 8 a.m. on Monday.
Social media footage captured the moment the building caved in as others in the area fled for safety.
Nosa Okunbor, chief of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency’s (LASEMA) public affairs unit, stated that there were no victims in the incident.
“LASEMA Response Teams in Search & Rescue Operation at a self-collapsed building on Amusu Street, Baale Bus Stop, Orile Iganmu,” he said.
“Incident summary: Transmitted at 08:54 am; No Casualties.”
Okunbor stated that the agency would provide further details in the following hours.
A building collapsed in the Maryland district of Lagos in July, killing three site workers. The event occurred at No. 13 Wilson Mba Street, Arowojobe Estate.
Three additional construction workers were retrieved alive and taken to the hospital.
Building collapses are widespread in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial capital and largest metropolis.
