Tribunal affirms Uzodimma’s election as Imo Governor, dismisses Labour Party’s petition

The Imo State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal on Friday upheld the election of Hope Uzodimma as the Governor of Imo State. The tribunal, which convened in Abuja, also dismissed the petition filed by the Labour Party (LP) and its governorship candidate, Athan Achonu.

The three-man panel of the tribunal, led by Justice Oluyemi Akintan-Osadebay, delivered a unanimous judgment affirming that Uzodimma’s election was in substantial compliance with the provisions of the Electoral Act. The tribunal further noted that the Labour Party had failed to substantiate its allegations of overvoting and non-compliance with the Electoral Act.
