Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage has officially written to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fayode Adegoke Mustapha, regarding an alleged threat she received from Afrobeats star David Adeleke, widely known as Davido.
The controversy unfolded when the two musicians unfollowed each other on Instagram, sparking speculation that Davido’s decision was influenced by Tiwa’s friendship with his estranged baby mama, Sophia Momodu.
This situation escalated when Tiwa Savage’s ex-husband, Teebillz, issued a warning to Davido for what he perceived as disrespect towards his family.
In a social media post dated January 9, Tiwa Savage detailed the events leading to the conflict. She asserted that Davido became upset after she shared video clips featuring herself and Sophia on her Instagram story on December 23.
Tiwa said Davido reached out to her manager and accused her of taunting him, adding that the ‘Aye’ singer disrespected her using “malicious and derogatory words to my person.”
The singer explained that the fallout from these events resulted in numerous calls and messages from their shared acquaintances, questioning her actions. Tiwa Savage disclosed that Davido warned these mutual connections to advise her to “be careful in Lagos because he is going to f*ck me up.”
Expressing concern for her safety and that of her family, Tiwa concluded her letter by urging the authorities to hold Davido accountable should any harm befall her.
