President Bola Tinubu says he will continue to work hard and pray for Nigeria’s peace and security.
The president spoke at the National Mosque in Abuja on Friday, immediately after doing a special Juma’ah prayer to commemorate his 73rd birthday.
Tinubu thanked God for giving him another year of life, saying that the safety and well-being of residents remained at the top of his mind and prayer list.
“I feel good. I feel happy. I thank the Almighty Allah, who has protected us and continues to answer our prayers,” he said.
“We have prayed for our country. We prayed for the stability and peace of the nation. We prayed that Almighty Allah will safeguard our people and all citizens.”
Tinubu said his watchword remains “hard work and hard prayers.”
He urged Nigerians to adopt this principle, saying, “the word for all of us is hard work. You work harder, and you pray harder.”
“That’s the inspiration we got from today’s sermon. We thank God almighty that at this stage, we are still in it and working,” he said.
Abdulkadir Solagberu, the Malami Ubandoma of Ilorin Emirate, and other clerics performed special prayers for the country and the president.
Solagberu informed Tinubu that he will continue to pray for his good health, strength, and wisdom as he leads the nation to greater heights.
The Imam of the National Mosque, Muhammad Adam, commended Tinubu and his wife, Oluremi Tinubu, for their generosity to the poor and needy during Ramadan.
Adam urged Muslims to continue praying for the president, the country, and the underprivileged after Ramadan.
Several significant personalities attended the prayer session, including Vice-President Kashim Shettima, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, Nuhu Ribadu, national security adviser (NSA), ministries, service chiefs, and several members of the president’s family.
