President Bola Tinubu has directed the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to provide assistance to flood victims in parts of Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State.

In a statement issued by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga on Tuesday, Tinubu expressed deep concern over the devastating flooding, which displaced many residents and damaged homes, schools, hospitals, and businesses in the North-Eastern state.

The President extended his heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Borno, particularly to families who lost loved ones or livelihoods due to the disaster caused by the overflow of the Alo Dam.

As authorities continue to assess the extent of the damage, Tinubu called for the immediate evacuation of those in the affected areas. He assured Governor Babagana Zulum that the Federal Government is committed to working closely with the state to address the urgent humanitarian needs of the victims.

The President also reaffirmed his commitment to mobilizing federal resources to support the state during this challenging period.
