Abdullahi Mustapha has assumed the role of director-general and chief executive officer of the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN).
This follows his appointment by President Bola Tinubu.
This appointment was announced by Ajuri Ngelale, the special adviser to the president on media and publicity, in a statement on Monday.
Mustapha brings to this role substantial experience in the energy sector, with over a decade of service in the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).
His professional journey has also extended into the space technology sector.
“President Tinubu expects the new ECN Chief Executive to make a positive impact on his administration’s intensive push to diversify the nation’s energy sources in a synergized fashion across the government toward the ultimate aim of industrializing every part of the country with every citizen emancipated from the shackles of energy poverty,” Ngelale said.
Abdullahi Mustapha has a doctorate degree in mechanical engineering with a specialization in renewable energy.
He also holds a post-doctoral fellowship as a research associate in the School of Engineering at the University of Manchester.
