President Bola Tinubu has empowered 200 youths in Imo State with modern electrical tools for electrical maintenance and installations.
The president also empowered 305 vulnerable women in Imo state with modern energy-saving cooking stoves.
The empowerment exercise took place in Owerri during the weekend.
He stated that the empowerment was designed to improve the livelihood of the women and contribute to a sustainable and energy-efficient future.
The president, represented by the chief executive officer of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), Khalil Halilu, explained that the empowerment programme was in collaboration with Governor Hope Uzodinma’s administration.
Mr Tinubu addressed the beneficiaries of the programme, urging them to grab the opportunity and put it to full use.
“Now that you have acquired these new skills, you now have in your hands the power to create economic opportunities for yourselves and even for others,” Mr Tinubu said.
Job creation and youth empowerment
“The president’s focus on job creation and youth empowerment aligns perfectly with the goals of this programme. As a federal agency, NASENI remains steadfast in its commitment to realising this agenda and renewing hope and opportunity for all Nigerians. In the 21st century, the significance and value of technical and vocational skills cannot be overemphasised, especially in a developing country like ours. The economic opportunities are limitless for those who realise the value and commit themselves to learning and re-learning,” he added.
He stated that the empowerment was designed to improve the livelihood of the women and contribute to a sustainable and energy-efficient future.
Mr. Uzodimma expressed gratitude to the federal government and NASENI for the intervention. He called on state citizens to reciprocate the favour by voting for the All Progressives Congress (APC) at both state and federal levels.
Mr. Uzodimma addressed the beneficiaries, urging them to utilise the opportunity and change the course of their lives with it.
“This is a lifetime opportunity that should not be toyed with. By availing yourself of this training, you are being encouraged to be financially responsible and independent. How you manage this opportunity given to you will determine your destination in life,” Mr Uzodimma said.
Mr Uzodinma pledged to do all he can to ensure Imo youths have a headstart in life. He also pledged to dole out additional cash to the Imo State women who benefit from the empowerment programme.
