President Bola Tinubu has expressed condolences to former President Goodluck Jonathan on the death of his elder sister, Obebhatein.
Obebhatein, 70, died on Thursday after a brief illness at the Federal Medical Centre in Yenagoa, Bayelsa state.
Amissi, as she was affectionately known, was a retired teacher, businesswoman, mother, and grandmother.
Tinubu asked Jonathan to “take solace in the legacy of Amissi, who dedicated her life to the service of God and humanity” in a statement issued by presidential spokesperson Ajuri Ngelale on Friday.
The president prayed for the repose of the deceased’s soul and comfort for those who mourned her death.
Obebhatein left behind three children, siblings, and her mother, Eunice Afeni-Jonathan.
Obebhatein, according to a statement released by Jonathan’s media office, is scheduled to be buried on Tuesday, February 16.
