Three killed, district head, 11 others kidnapped in Zamfara

Some residents who fled during the attack remain unaccounted for.

In the Bagega community of Anka Local Government Area, Zamfara State, armed bandits carried out an assault resulting in the deaths of at least three individuals and injuries to 11 others.

The attackers also abducted the district head of the community, his eight-year-old daughter, and about 10 more individuals during the incident.

Although the police in the state have not officially confirmed the attack, ASP Yazid Abubakar, the spokesperson for the command, mentioned that he would conduct an inquiry and provide updates.

A resident of the community, Abdullahi Bagega, who managed to escape during the assault, recounted on Wednesday that the bandits rode into the community on motorcycles on Monday evening and initiated gunfire, prompting residents to flee for safety.

He stated that three people lost their lives, 11 individuals sustained severe injuries, and are currently receiving medical care in various hospitals.

Abdullahi added that some residents who fled during the attack remain unaccounted for.

“They kidnapped the Sarkin Gabas of our community and his small daughter of about eight years old, six other persons and four people from a village before Bagega. The total is not up to 50, we also have 11 persons critically injured right now.”
