Soldier questions non-recognition as Tinubu lavishes gifts on Super Eagles

Paul, who sustained a bullet injury while serving in the North East, expressed his frustration.

A Nigerian soldier, Adie Paul, has voiced his disapproval of President Bola Tinubu’s decision to reward Super Eagles players with houses, plots of land, and national honours for their second-place finish in the recently-concluded African Cup of Nations.

Paul, who sustained a bullet injury while serving in the North East, expressed his frustration on his social media handle.

Responding to a tweet by a user named drpenking, who highlighted the gifts received by even non-playing members of the Super Eagles team, Paul shared his perspective.

Reacting to the post, the soldier, while sharing a picture, wrote, “Yet, as a soldier, I stayed in the North East fighting Boko Haram for four years plus, I was shot and I am still carrying the bullet in me till date, not even a medal from the Army/Nigeria government.”

Tinubu had on Tuesday conferred the national honour of Member of the Order of the Niger on every member of the Super Eagles  team that won Silver medal at AFCON.
