Saudi Arabia has announced the execution of five men for carrying out a deadly attack on a house of worship.
The five men includes four Saudis and one Egyptian.
The incident occurred in the Al-Ahsa governorate, resulting in five deaths and multiple injuries.
The specific date and targeted house of worship were not disclosed by the state media.
The Egyptian national was found guilty of various charges, including targeting a house of worship, shooting at security guards, attempting self-destruction, and belonging to a terrorist organization.
The other four individuals were convicted of aiding and belonging to the same terror group.
In a letter to Amnesty International, the Saudi Human Rights Commission revealed that 196 executions took place in 2022, the highest recorded in the country in the past three decades.
This year, Saudi Arabia has already executed 54 people for crimes such as murder, drug smuggling, and terrorism.
Family members often learn about the executions through media reports, as they are not consistently informed by authorities.
