The screening session has now moved into an executive session.

The House of Representatives is currently conducting the screening of President Bola Tinubu‘s nominated service chiefs.

The nominees include Christopher Musa as Chief of Defence Staff, Taoreed Lagbaja as Chief of Army Staff, Emmanuel Ogalla as Chief of Naval Staff, and Hassan Abubakar as Chief of Air Staff.

The screening process is being led by Julius Ihonvbere, the Majority Leader of the House, who heads the screening committee.

President Tinubu requested the confirmation of the security chiefs based on the Armed Forces Act and the need for new leaders to enhance the nation’s defence architecture.

During their introduction, Lagbaja expressed his commitment to working in harmony with other security chiefs to ensure the country’s safety and transform the army.

“I shall do my best to justify the confidence reposed in me by the president,” he said.

The screening session has now moved into an executive session.

It is worth noting that the Senate confirmed the appointment of the service chiefs on Thursday.
