French giants Paris Saint-Germain have expressed their intention to sign Victor Osimhen from Napoli by making a €90m plus €40m first offer for the Nigerian striker.

According to Il Corriere dello Sport, PSG are favourites in the hunt for the 25-year-old, with competition coming from Liverpool, who are expected to launch their bid for the player in the coming days.

Napoli are prepared to sell the Nigerian international at a starting price of €150 million, whereas the French giants are said to have offered €90 million plus €40 million in bonuses.

At Liverpool, Osimhen could replace Darwin Núñez, who has had major problems with goal-scoring, or Mohamed Salah, who is still being chased by Saudi clubs.

Osimhen, who is coveted by a litany of other Eurpean top clubs, including English Premier League giants Manchester United, Chelsea, and Arsenal, signed a new contract with Napoli in December, which binds him to the club until 2026, with the former Serie A champions inserting a €150 million euros release clause in the new deal.

A couple of months later, the FIFA U17 World Cup winner announced his decision to leave the club at the end of the season, asserting that his next destination had been decided.

This could be far from the truth, as nothing has been heard of the choice of destination amid spiralling rumours about his future.
At PSG, Osimhen is expected to replace Kylian Mbappe, who will join his long-term suitors Real Madrid in the summer, with news rife that the France striker has already agreed to buy Sergio Ramos’ mansion in Madrid.

Osimhen is expected to hit the ground running in French Ligue 1, where he excelled in the colours of Lille, scoring 13 goals in 27 matches in 2019–2020, a feat that attracted the attention of Napoli, who paid a club record fee of 70 million euros to sign him from The Mastiffs in the summer of 2020.

The former Wolfsburg striker has scored 64 goals in 105 appearances for Napoli, netting 26 times and providing four assists to help the Azzurri win their first Scudetto in 33 years.
