Supreme Court verdict protest: Police arrest 38 in Nasarawa

Tensions flared in Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa State, as a protest ensued following the Supreme Court’s decision affirming the election of Governor Abdullahi Sule. Supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) took to the streets, blocking the Lafia-Jos Road and igniting tires in front of the state secretariat, resulting in a road blockade.

This demonstration has forced motorists to seek alternative routes within Lafia, causing disruptions in the state capital. Security personnel are on the scene, working to restore calm and prevent any further escalation of the situation.

As a consequence of the protest, shops, business centers, and schools in the Lafia metropolis have abruptly closed, reflecting the impact of the unrest on daily activities in the area.
