A catastrophic incident unfolded as the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, narrowly escaped death in a plane crash at the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital. The private jet, operated by Flint Aero, crash-landed on Friday night, causing concern and alarm.
The ill-fated aircraft, which had departed from the Abuja airport on Friday evening, encountered a distressing situation during its landing at approximately 10 p.m. close to the airport runway in Ibadan. According to a security personnel at the airport, who requested non-disclosure, the aircraft veered off the runway during the landing attempt, resulting in a crash into the nearby bush.
Remarkably, only two individuals were on board the aircraft at the time of the crash – the pilot and the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu. Initial reports indicate that there were no fatalities, and both occupants escaped the accident with their lives. However, the aircraft itself suffered significant damage in the crash.
In response to the incident, the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has taken swift action by launching an investigation to determine the root cause of the accident. As the aviation authorities gather more information, questions regarding the circumstances leading up to the crash will be explored in detail.
