Police summon Ajaero for questioning over alleged ‘terrorism financing’

NPF stated that if Ajaero does not accept the invitation, an arrest warrant will be filed for him.

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has summoned Joe Ajaero, president of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), for questioning.

Ajaero was summoned over “a case of criminal conspiracy, terrorism financing, treasonable felony, subversion, and cybercrime”.

According to an invitation letter issued by Adamu Muazu, assistant commissioner of police, Ajaero is scheduled to visit the intelligence response team (IRT) facility in Abuja on Tuesday.

Muazu stated that if Ajaero does not accept the invitation, an arrest warrant will be filed for him.

On 7 August, police raided the Nigerian Labour Congress building in Abuja’s Central Business District.

The NLC stated that the operatives who stormed the premises “claimed that they were looking for seditious materials used for the #EndBadGovernance protests”.

Kayode Egbetokun, the inspector-general of police (IGP), later stated that one of the Sudan conflict’s masterminds had been traced to the NLC headquarters.

According to the IGP, police detectives tracked down the foreigner to a business within Labour House, but no raids were conducted on the secretariat.
