Police arrest suspected gunrunner in Kaduna, recover AK-47 rifles

The police stated that the suspect is cooperating with the investigation, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend his accomplices.

Operatives of the Kaduna Police Command have apprehended a suspected notorious gunrunner and recovered twenty AK-47 rifles in the process.

According to a statement from the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Mansir Hassan, police officers on routine patrol at Buruku Bridge in Igabi Local Government Area intercepted a black Golf III saloon car driven by the suspect, Bitrus Gyang, a resident of Bakin Ladi in Plateau State, on Thursday.

Upon conducting a thorough search of the vehicle, the officers uncovered twenty locally fabricated AK-47 rifles and an empty Type 06 magazine concealed in the trunk.

During interrogation, the suspect confessed to being involved in gunrunning and admitted to transporting fabricated rifles on at least three previous occasions.

The police stated that the suspect is cooperating with the investigation, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend his accomplices.
