Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has expressed regret over the violent clash that occurred between Nigerian Army operatives and police officers in the state.
The clash, which took place at the police command headquarters in Yola North Local Government Area, resulted in the tragic death of a police inspector, Jacob Daniel, causing panic among residents.
Governor Fintiri responded promptly to the unfortunate incident, convening an “emergency security meeting” to address the situation. In a statement issued on Thursday, he outlined that the resolution from the meeting emphasized a commitment to justice and collaboration for the peace of Adamawa and Nigeria.
The governor took to his official handle to share the outcome of the security meeting, stating, “Addressed an emergency security meeting in Yola following the regrettable clash between the Nigerian Army and Police.”
The conflict near Target Junction has been reported as resolved, with both security forces committing to justice and collaborative efforts to ensure peace in Adamawa and Nigeria.
Expressing condolences for the loss of an officer from both sides, Governor Fintiri urged restraint among security forces and the public to prevent a recurrence of such clashes.
