In response to the escalating security challenges within the Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, Governor Caleb Mutfwang has imposed a 24-hour curfew immediately. The decision, conveyed through a press statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Gyang Bere, came after consultations with relevant security agencies and aimed to prevent a breakdown of law and order in the affected region.
The governor urged citizens, particularly residents of Mangu, to adhere to the sit-at-home order. Only individuals engaged in essential duties can move within the local government area during the curfew period. This precautionary measure has been implemented to address the deteriorating security situation and safeguard the community’s well-being.
Despite the government’s continuous efforts to curb the activities of terrorist elements, Governor Mutfwang expressed dismay at the persistence of certain individuals in creating an atmosphere of insecurity in the state. He reassured the public that the curfew was a necessary step to protect lives and property and emphasized the importance of collective compliance.
Governor Mutfwang extended sympathy to the families of victims and those injured, assuring them that the government remains committed to ensuring lasting peace in the state. The governor promised that the curfew would be subject to regular reviews, with a commitment to lifting it as soon as the security situation improves in the Mangu Local Government Area.
