Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has expressed deep dismay over the persistent terrorist attacks in Plateau, Benue, and other parts of Nigeria. In his latest statement, Obi condemned the recent attack in Zurak village, Wase LGA of Plateau State, which resulted in the deaths of approximately 40 individuals and left many others hospitalized.
“This latest attack is a very sad occurrence that must be condemned in the strongest terms,” Obi stated. He noted the increasing frequency of these violent incidents, particularly in Plateau State, and expressed concern over the alarming trend.
Obi urged the government to fulfill its duty of protecting the lives and properties of Nigerians, emphasizing the need for decisive and effective actions to combat insecurity. He stressed the importance of investing in critical areas such as human development, education, health, and poverty alleviation to address the root causes of insecurity.
“I call on the government to rise to its responsibilities with corresponding actions. Above all, we must take every necessary measure to drastically reduce insecurity in the nation by investing in the critical areas of human development; education, health, and lifting people out of poverty,” Obi stated.
He extended his heartfelt condolences to the Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, as well as to the government and people of Plateau State, especially the bereaved families affected by the tragic event.
“May God grant eternal rest to the dead and quick recovery to the hospitalized,” Obi added.
The attack in Zurak village adds to the growing list of heinous attacks in the region, further underscoring the urgent need for comprehensive measures to ensure the safety and security of all Nigerians.
