The Supreme Court has commenced the hearing of the appeal lodged by Atiku Abubakar, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), contesting the election of President Bola Tinubu.
According to TheCable, strict entry restrictions are in place at the court premises, and there is a substantial presence of security personnel.
The Department of State Services (DSS) officers are conducting thorough screening of individuals seeking access.
Only a limited number of journalists have been granted entry into the courtroom.
Numerous dignitaries and party leaders, including Abdullahi Ganduje, the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC); Julius Abure, the national chairman of the Labour Party; and Umar Damagum, the acting national chairman of the PDP, are in attendance.
Femi Gbajabiamila, the chief of staff to the president, and Nuhu Ribadu, the national security adviser, are also present in court.
The court is expected to deliberate on all the appeals challenging Tinubu’s election.
The justices overseeing the appeals include Inyang Okoro, Helen Ogunwumiju, Ibrahim Saulawa, Adamu Jauro, Tijani Abubakar, Emmanuel Agim, and Lawal Garba.
The panel is being led by Okoro.
