Vice President Kashim Shettima is currently chairing the national economic council (NEC) meeting at Aso Rock Villa, Abuja.
The meeting, which is the second since its inauguration by President Bola Tinubu, aims to find ways to mitigate the impact of petrol subsidy removal.
As per Nigeria’s constitution, the vice president serves as the chairman of NEC.
This monthly meeting focuses on coordinating economic planning efforts and programs among various levels of government.
It includes the participation of the 36 state governors, the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, the minister of finance, the secretary to the government of the federation, and other government officials and agencies that play a role in the country’s economy.
