Nursing mother joins hunger protest with three-month-old baby in Abuja

The nursing mother lamented that she brought her three-month-old baby to the protest because the hardship in the country had become unbearable.

A nursing mother in the Federal Capital Territory, identified as Suwaiba Abdullahi, has explained why she joined the hunger protest with her three-month-old baby despite the risks involved.

Abdullahi expressed her frustration with the level of hardship in the country.

Nigerians began the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protest on August 1, 2024, to draw the government’s attention to the plight of the masses.

The nursing mother lamented that she brought her three-month-old baby to the protest because the hardship in the country had become unbearable.

Abdullahi said, “The hardship in the land made me come outside. The hardship is unbearable. Things are too expensive in the market. To feed is a problem and we say we have a government? The president must listen to the cries of the citizens.”

At least 17 people were feared killed in Abuja, Kano, Niger, Borno, Kaduna, and Jigawa during the #EndBadGovernance protest held across the country on Thursday.

One person was shot dead in Abuja and Kano, two were killed in Jigawa, six were reportedly gunned down by security forces in Niger, while four died in Borno and three in Kaduna.

PUNCH Healthwise reports that nationwide protests have erupted across Nigeria as citizens express frustration over the country’s prevailing economic hardship.
