The Delta State Police Command has confirmed the rescued nine students who were abducted along the East-West Road in Ughelli, Delta State.
The incident, which occurred on Monday, sparked concern after reports emerged that the students were forcefully taken while traveling in a minibus.
Confirming the rescue, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Edafe Bright, took to social media to announce the positive development. “All nine of the victims have regained their freedom pls,” he wrote, quoting Channels Television’s report.
According to initial reports, the abducted individuals were suspected to be students returning from their school in Calabar, Cross River State, after travelling on Friday night. The bus driver, fortunately, escaped unharmed, and the kidnappers made no ransom demands.
