Nigeria’s economic situation already improving – Remi Tinubu

First Lady, Remi Tinubu.

In Abuja, Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady, expressed optimism regarding the nation’s economic situation, attributing improvements to initiatives under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

TheCable reports that at the inauguration of the Women Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (WOWICAN), the first lady highlighted the initiatives’ positive impact on Nigerians, particularly women.

Represented by Adedayo Benjamins-Laniyi, the Mandate Secretary for Women Affairs in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Tinubu emphasized the initiatives’ reach across the country, aiming to assist various communities.

“The country’s economic situation is already improving,” Tinubu stated. “The renewed hope agenda of President Bola Tinubu right now is offloading a number of initiatives bringing succour and providing humanitarian services to the elderly, women, communities, and the girl-child.”

Tinubu urged women to unite in advancing gender equality and to play their part in healing the nation amidst challenges.

“It is important for women to work together, and we must see ourselves playing the role of healing our nation,” she remarked. “Women are light and must always stand as light and shine whether in the church or in the mosque, we must stand as women of faith.”

Elizabeth Akinadewo, the National Chairperson of WOWICAN, pledged to prioritize women empowerment during her administration, aiming to improve lives and provide support to the oppressed.

“Although the demand of the office is tasking, I am happy to take it up to improve the lives of women and families,” Akinadewo stated. “We will give succour to those who are oppressed, help them out of their misery, give voice to the voiceless, and empower the women.”

Akinadewo outlined plans to equip women with necessary skills for independence and sustainability, continuing initiatives to provide financial support to women for business ventures.

“We have been giving women a little token of money to work with, and that will continue under my administration,” she affirmed.
