Nigerian Idol opens entries for ninth season

Aspiring participants, aged between 16 and 28, are encouraged to record a 30-second clip of themselves singing any song of their choice and upload it to the organization’s website.

MultiChoice Nigeria, the organizers of the renowned music reality show, Nigerian Idol, have officially commenced the entry process for the ninth edition of the competition. Online submissions for entries began on Friday, January 19, 2024, and will continue until midnight on January 29.

The theme for the ninth edition is ‘Dare to Dream,’ aiming to inspire young and talented Nigerians to courageously audition for this esteemed music competition. Aspiring participants, aged between 16 and 28, are encouraged to record a 30-second clip of themselves singing any song of their choice and upload it to the organization’s website.

Busola Tejumola, the Executive Head of Content and Channels West Africa at MultiChoice, announced the call for entries. She expressed MultiChoice’s commitment to empowering young talents to realize their dreams and delivering premium entertainment to the audience. Tejumola highlighted the success of previous editions, which has motivated more young Nigerians to dare to dream and become influential voices in sharing African stories.

Tejumola also revealed that the ninth season of Nigerian Idol would be sponsored by the soft drink brand Bigi and gadget manufacturer Tecno.

The previous edition was won by Victory Gbakara, who received a grand prize worth N100 million, including a N35 million cash prize, a car, and a recording contract. The upcoming season promises to be even more significant and entertaining than its predecessors, continuing the tradition of showcasing and uplifting emerging musical talents.
