The Nigerian Army has taken a significant step to enhance its capabilities by recruiting 6,315 new soldiers. This recruitment drive aims to bolster the country’s security forces in their ongoing efforts to address Nigeria’s various security challenges.

The recruits, part of the 85th Regular Intake, were formally welcomed into the army during a passing-out parade held at the Nigerian Army Depot in Zaria, Kaduna State, on Saturday. During the ceremony, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff, addressed the newly minted soldiers and emphasized their role in supporting the nation during this critical period.

General Lagbaja reminded the recruits that their entry into the armed forces coincides with a time when Nigeria is grappling with a range of security issues. He stressed the importance of their patriotic commitment and called upon them to uphold core values such as loyalty, discipline, and selfless service.

“The expectations from you are significant,” the Army Chief noted, highlighting the responsibility placed on these young soldiers to contribute to the country’s safety and security.

General Lagbaja assured Nigerians that the military remains resolute in its mission to combat threats posed by terrorist groups, bandits, kidnappers, and other criminal elements that undermine the nation’s peace and stability.

The passing-out parade held at the Nigerian Army Depot signifies the commencement of these recruits’ military careers, marking a significant milestone in their service to the nation.

The event featured various military displays and drills, with the champion battalion receiving banners in recognition of their outstanding performance. Awards were also presented to deserving recruits for their exceptional dedication and commitments.
