Vice President Kashim Shettima, at the 15th BRICS summit, highlighted Nigeria’s vision for inclusive trade, prosperity, and progress.
He represented President Bola Tinubu at the event in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Shettima emphasized the need for global governance reform, promoting equitable partnerships.
His statement was issued by Olusola Abiola, director of information in the vice-president’s office.
The statement reads:
“We seek partnerships governed by universal rules, ensuring trade, prosperity, and progress without marginalization due to geography or race.
“Shettima highlighted the challenge of historical vulnerabilities beyond nations’ control, driving them to unite regionally and create new forms of international cooperation.
“This effort aims to reform global economic governance while enhancing the voice of emerging market economies and developing countries.
“Nigeria is committed to shaping global frameworks and governance in finance, climate change, the digital economy, and post-pandemic recovery.
