The First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, expressed that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is working towards laying the foundation for a more formidable and prosperous nation.
Speaking at a dinner organized by the Nigerians in Diaspora Organization (NIDO) in Sierra Leone, she emphasized the government’s commitment to policies and programs that prioritize the best interests of Nigerians.
The First Lady, in a statement by her media aide, Busola Kukoyi, noted that the present administration in the country has the best interest of Nigerians as its focus, hence the bold policies and programmes put in place by government.
“I can assure you. You can trust my husband .Nigeria is like a fresh baby that we have to nurture. We hope to lay a good foundation that generations will be able to build upon.
“We are in it to make sure we can turn our nation around,” she stated.
Mrs. Tinubu commended Nigerians in Sierra Leone for their unity across diverse backgrounds and encouraged similar unity among Nigerians at home.
Engr Abiodun, the President of NIDO in Sierra Leone on behalf of the others expressed confidence in the Tinubu administration and sought the First Lady’s support for various initiatives, including a Nigerian Hospital project in the country.
They urged the First Lady to collaborate with other African First Ladies to replicate empowerment programs for widows and orphans of the Armed Forces in their respective countries.
A plea was made for the First Lady’s assistance in supporting the Nigerian community in Sierra Leone with their initiative to establish a Nigerian Hospital in the country.
Additionally, some speakers emphasized the importance of the government’s involvement in facilitating the inclusion of Nigerians in the diaspora in future voting processes.
The First Lady was in Sierra Leone to commemorate the UN Day on the Prevention of and Healing from Child Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Violence.
