Nigeria has now joined Senegal as the only two teams to achieve four consecutive titles in the history of the championship.

D’Tigress of Nigeria secured their fourth consecutive championship title in Africa after a thrilling 84-74 victory against Senegal in the 2023 FIBA Women’s Afrobasket final.

Showing dominance from the start, Nigeria took a significant lead in the first quarter, winning 19-10. Despite Senegal’s attempt to mount a comeback in the second quarter, D’Tigress remained resolute in holding onto their advantage, finishing the quarter with a score of 43-31.

In the third quarter, the Senegalese launched a determined comeback, narrowing Nigeria’s lead to just five (5) points as they entered the final quarter with a score of 62-57.

In the crucial last quarter, D’Tigress elevated their performance, successfully countering Senegal’s strong challenge. With everything at stake, Nigeria displayed their prowess and outplayed Senegal, ultimately securing another FIBA Women’s AfroBasket title with an impressive 84-74 victory.
