The new Information Minister, Idris Mohammed, has conveyed his commitment to ensuring that his tenure leads to a ministry that is transparent and answerable to the people of Nigeria. He has provided this assurance to both the ministry’s staff and various stakeholders.
These statements were issued after the formal swearing-in ceremony of 45 confirmed ministerial nominees, which took place on Monday at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja.
“As a minister of Information and National Orientation, I have the duty of telling Nigerians the true picture of what transpired about the various programmes and projects of the administration in all sectors,” he said.
“In the next few days, we are going to enrol our plans for you.”
“You are going to have a Ministry of Information and National Orientation that is open, that is transparent and accountable to Nigerians.”
Mr. Idris disclosed that the Ministry’s primary focus will be on national orientation, alongside its role in disseminating information. He also emphasized the importance of caution among Nigerians when it comes to sharing information and encouraged members of the press to verify their sources before spreading news to combat misinformation.
