The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has carried out a raid on Berrymist Lounge in Osogbo, Osun state, preventing a night party titled ‘Unholy Alliance for Stoners and Drunkards’ that was slated for illicit substance abuse.
According to NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi, the raid, based on credible intelligence, resulted in the arrest of individuals involved in the event, recovery of illicit substances, and the apprehension of some organizers.
Those arrested include Ikotu Omolayo, 25; Fola Olabode, 30; and Akorede Adunni Ajibola, 22. The lounge’s management has also been summoned for further investigation.
In a separate operation along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, NDLEA seized 859 kilograms of cannabis concealed among sugar bags in a truck. Another operation in Edo state led to the recovery of 338kgs of cannabis in a warehouse.
In various other operations, the NDLEA arrested suspects with tramadol, codeine syrup, Molly, cannabis, and methamphetamine. Chairman Mohamed Buba Marwa commended the officers, urging heightened vigilance, especially with criminal networks seeking to exploit the upcoming yuletide season for illicit activities.
