The national grid experienced another system failure, causing the country to go dark.
The system failure happened on Monday.
According to Ndidi Mbah, general manager of public affairs at Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), the grid collapsed around 1 p.m. and has since been repaired.
“The collapse occurred at 13:49 this afternoon.” “It is now completely restored by 18.51,” Mbah stated.
The national grid has failed three times in the last few months.
Attempts by TheCable to obtain confirmation from TCN were futile.
The national grid system failed twice in September 2023.
The grid had failed on September 14, 2023, and September 19, 2023, respectively, but was quickly restored.
Meanwhile, Mbah reported earlier today that the company’s Gwagwalada-Kukwaba-Apo 132 kilovolt (KV) transmission line 1 had been vandalised.
Mbah claimed that the line between “towers 23 and tower 25” had been vandalised.
She went on to say that the act was suspected to have occurred around 1 a.m. on December 10, 2023.
Mbah stated that the company is making plans to repair the affected line.
