Mr Ibu undergoes further amputation

The first amputation didn't fully address his health issues, necessitating the decision to amputate the same leg further.

Renowned Nollywood actor, John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, has recently undergone additional amputation on the same leg that underwent a previous amputation.

The actor’s family made this disclosure through a statement posted on his verified Instagram page on Saturday.

Contrary to misconceptions circulating on social media, the family clarified that Mr Ibu did not undergo amputation on both legs, but only on one.

The statement explained that the first amputation didn’t fully address his health issues, necessitating the decision to amputate the same leg further.

The family debunked the notion that diabetes was the cause of his illness, stating that Mr Ibu had been grappling with persistent blood clotting in his leg (diseased blood vessels) and other health challenges that posed a significant risk to his life, thus necessitating the need for amputation.

Contrary to speculations about seeking treatment abroad, the family clarified that Mr Ibu was not flown abroad for treatment because the doctors deemed him “Not fit to fly” due to his health condition.
